چکیده

The ratios of the cross sections for the processes of transfer ionization ~TI! and single capture ~SC! were measured for 2 MeV/u Cl ,91 ,131 ,141 ,151 and Ti ,181 projectile ions on He targets. The ratio was determined using a cold He gas target and measuring the coincidences between the projectile and the charge states of the emerging recoil ions. The measured sTI /sSC ratio shows a strong dependence with the projectile charge state that is well described by calculations based on the independent electron model. A model to take into account the effect of the electron screening of partially dressed projectiles in the target ionization is also presented. @S1050-2947~97!02603-6#

COLTRIMS Imaging of Molecular Fragmentation Dynamics of CO Molecules Induced by Slow He Ions

We study the multiple ionization and fragmentation of CO in collisions with slow He ions. Correlated measurements of all fragment ions and the projectile final charge state were performed using our coincidence COLTRIMS imaging technique coupled to projectile charge state separation. Complete fragmentations of CO, following double electron capture, into C+O with a total charge of 4 were investig...

Direct excitations of He+ and Li++ ions by collisions with protons or antiprotons

The impact parameter formalism of the single-center close-coupling, first-, and second-order Born approximations have been applied to investigate direct excitations of Helium He+(2s) and Lithium Li++(2s) ions by colliding with protons or antiprotons. The total 3s, 3p, and 3d scaled excitation cross sections are calculated in the scaled impact energy region (2 to 1000 keV). The present work aims...

Low-Energy Charge Transfer in Multiply-Charged Ion-Atom Collisions Studied with the Combined SCVB-MOCC Approach

A survey of theoretical studies of charge transfer involving collisions of multiply-charged ions with atomic neutrals (H and He) is presented. The calculations utilized the quantum-mechanical molecular-orbital close-coupling (MOCC) approach where the requisite potential curves and coupling matrix elements have been obtained with the spin-coupled valence bond (SCVB) method. Comparison is made am...

CTMC calculations of electron capture and ionization in collisions of multiply charged ions with elliptical Rydberg atoms

We have performed classical trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) studies of electron capture and ionization in multiply charged (Q ≤ 8) ion-Rydberg atom collisions at intermediate impact velocities. Impact parallel to the minor and to the major axis, respectively, of the initial Kepler electron ellipse has been investigated. The important role of the initial electron momentum distribution found for si...

Calculation of the total cross section for the ionization of H, He, Ne and Ar atoms by bare ions at the high energy range

In the present work, the total cross-section for the ionization of  H, He, Ne and Ar atoms by +He2+ ، H+ ، Li3 ions has been calculated. In these calculations, a binary encounter approximation in the form of a two-body process between projectile ions and atomic electrons at the high energy range has been implemented. In order to enter the nuclear role of the target atom, the atomic electron vel...
